To every thing there is a season, and I'm gathering steam. My good friend Lyndsey finished the major revision of our fantasy novel, The Dark Captain on Sunday, and I'm so honored to have been a part of the process. I look forward to creating illustrations of this world and the characters that populate it for many years to come.
Even as I write this, of course, she's resting and regaining her strength, eager to dive back into writing. And this taste of accomplishment is also driving me. See, that's the thing about finishing work - you like the taste of being done, but you miss the feeling of creation. Like eating the cookies you worked on baking.
So it's time to mix up some new cookie dough.
Drawing a comic has been a life dream of mine for a long time, but it was never enough to seek work on an established title. Oh no - I needed to start from scratch. To that effect, I'm working on two unrelated projects with some truly amazing collaborators. The first you're well aware of by now: The Dark Captain graphic novel. The other is Dinosaur War, a very exciting setting.
I've never drawn a comic, so I expect I'll be learning as I go and finding out the best ways to proceed. I can't wait to start!

Suggestions for the Alpha-Bestiary?

I have a few ideas written down, but I was wondering if any other fans of legends, myths or monsters had suggestions of critters they'd like to see illustrated with a short poem? I'm hoping to complete the alphabet.
What a trip!
The last few months have been eventful for me. I didn't have a lot of free time to work on my comic projects because I got married! My wife and I went to Bermuda on a cruise, and even though the wind tried to blast us off the pier we had a great time. We're still working our way through the leftovers from the catering, but that's okay because leftover turkey is delicious!
This weekend we went to see the Avengers, and brimming with superhero pep I returned and plotted some more Dinosaur Wars with my collaborator Rachel. I'm anxious to start... I'm eager but I also don't want to fuck it up.
Onwards and Upwards!
The Connecticon images are all set, unless I get new marching orders! I'm moving on to other projects, also getting ready for my wedding in April! It's a busy but exciting time.
Almost finished with Connecticon Artwork!
I was approached to create art for Connecticon in Hartford this July. It's always a great feeling having people seek your work out!
Haven't updated this journal in a long while - wedding planning and such.
